Fluid Power Design Handbook

This book presents engineering and application information to incorporate, control, predict, and measure the performance of all fluid power components in hydraulic or pneumatic systems. Detailing developments in the ongoing "electronic revolution" of fluid power control, the third edition offers new and enlarged coverage of microprocessor control, "smart" actuators, virtual displays, position sensors, computer-aided design, performance testing, noise reduction, on-screen simulation of complex branch-flow networks, important engineering terms and conversion units. It has a different approach in many of the hydraulics case studies, for example: in evaluating flow through orifices/local resistance to flow, or has good formulas to calculate internal leakage in a spool valve when the spool is centered, or in the case it is eccentric. The book has some interesting comments on cavitation.

It is useful for a beginner to mid career engineer trying to stretch their wings and fly solo; it is a wise/reference type book for an experienced engineer.

HEAT EXCHANGER DESIGN HANDBOOK, 1ST ISSUE

Author(s): E.U. Schlunder | Publisher: Taylor & Francis Inc | Date: 1983 | Pages: 2305 | Format: PDF | ISBN-10: 0891161252

First issued by Hemisphere Publishing in 1983 after more than ten years in development, the Heat Exchanger Design Handbook proved a major success that became wellknown in both industrial and academic circles as a single-source compendium of technical information. Originally a five-volume, loose-leaf publication, it was updated during the 1980s with six supplements. A 1990 hardbound edition included the original material and the first five supplements.

Above Ground Storage Tanks

Philip E. Myers, "Above Ground Storage Tanks"
MgH | 1997 | ISBN: 007044272X | 690 pages | PDF | 37,1 MB

To bring ASTs up to standards, rely on the only book that brings you up to speed on how to do it Aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), designed to hold fluids or liquids used by the chemical process industry, gained notoriety following a series of leaks and spills in the 1980s, which had disastrous consequences for the environment. Since that time, new industry regulations on the federal, state, and local levels requiring compliance with new standards, such as the American Petroleum Institute's API 653, have made it all-important for owners and regulators to understand the design, operation, and maintenance of ASTs--and to meet these stringent requirements. That where Aboveground Storage Tanks comes in. The one reference devoted exclusively to ASTs, this book assembles the most critical information on the subject in a single convenient volume. The result is an ideal tool for chemical, environmental, and civil engineers, as well as management and government personnel and others concerned with the regulatory issues governing ASTs. Section by section, this complete reference thoroughly examines and clarifies: Various types of storage media and their applications; Fundamental environmental engineering concerns; Industrial codes and standards for ASTs; AST design considerations; The proper construction, fabrication, and erection of tanks; The often-confusing requirements designed to keep ASTs environmentally sound. At last, here's a timely, in-depth handbook on ASTs and the new standards for their maintenance and inspection--one that makes meeting these madates a less forbidding task. . .and ultimately helps to render our environment a little more secure.

The John Zink Combustion Handbook

The John Zink Combustion Handbook
CRC Press; 1 edition | March 27, 2001 | ISBN-10: 0849323371 | 800 pages | PDF | 43.2 Mb

Despite the length of time it has been around, its importance, and vast amounts of research, combustion is still far from being completely understood. Industrial applications of combustion add environmental, cost, and fuel consumption issues to its fundamental complexity, and the process and power generation industries in particular present their own unique challenges

The John Zink Combustion Handbook is dedicated to improving that understanding and meeting those challenges. Under the leadership of Charles E. Baukal, Jr., top combustion engineers and technologists from the world-renowned John Zink Company have joined forces to bring you this landmark work— a synthesis of the multi-disciplinary background that will broaden your understanding, hone your skills, and further advance the art and science of industrial combustion.

Process Plant Design: Project Management from Inquiry to Acceptance

Frank Peter Helmus - Process Plant Design: Project Management from Inquiry to Acceptance
Wiley | 2008 | ISBN: 3527313133 | Pages: 204 | PDF | 5.13 MB

This book describes the fascinating wealth of activities as they occur in the design, construction and commissioning of a chemical plant - a jigsaw puzzle of the work of chemical engineers, chemists, constructors, architects, electrical engineers, process automation engineers, economists and legal staff.
The author first takes the reader through the conceptual phase, in which the economic relevance and environmental impact need to be considered and supplemented by accurate estimates of capital requirements and profitability.
This phase ends with the choice of an appropriate engineering firm and the conclusion of the contract, after which the reader is guided through all aspects of the implementation phase from the engineering of the chemical plant to commissioning, equipment and material procurement, the erection phase and the successful test run, after which the new facility is handed over to its owner.
The book also illustrates many potential sources of errors by means of examples from practice, and how, aside professional skills, teamwork and communication are also absolutely essential to keep such a complex project on track.
