Enhanced Oil Recovery

Vladimir Alvarado, Eduardo Manrique - Enhanced Oil Recovery: Field Planning and Development Strategies
Published: 2010-06-16 | ISBN: 1856178552 | PDF | 208 pages | 4.29 MB

Enhanced-Oil Recovery (EOR) evaluations focused on asset acquisition or rejuvenation involve a combination of complex decisions, using different data sources. EOR projects have been traditionally associated with high CAPEX and OPEX, as well as high financial risk, which tend to limit the number of EOR projects launched. In this book, the authors propose workflows for EOR evaluations that account for different volumes and quality of information. This flexible workflow has been successfully applied to oil property evaluations and EOR feasibility studies in many oil reservoirs. The methodology associated with the workflow relies on traditional (look-up tables, XY correlations, etc.) and more advanced (data mining for analog reservoir search and geology indicators) screening methods, emphasizing identification of analogues to support decision making. The screening phase is combined with analytical or simplified numerical simulations to estimate full-field performance by using reservoir data-driven segmentation procedures.

In your day-to-day planning, design, operation, and optimization of pipelines, wading through complex formulas and theories is not the way to get the job done. Gas Pipeline Hydraulics acts as a quick-reference guide to formulas, codes, and standards encountered in the gas industry. Based on the author's 30 years of experience in manufacturing and the oil and gas industry, the book presents a step-by-step introduction to the concepts in a practical approach illustrated by real-world examples, case studies, and a wealth of problems at the end of each chapter. Avoiding overly complex equations and theorems, Gas Pipeline Hydraulics demonstrates the calculation of pressure drop using various commonly accepted formulas. The author extends this discussion to determine total pressure required under various configurations, the necessity of pressure regulators and control valves, the comparative pros and cons of adding compressor stations versus pipe loops, mechanical strength of the pipeline, and thermal hydraulic analysis. He also introduces transient pressure analysis along with references for more in-depth study. The text concludes with the economic aspects of pipeline systems. Containing valuable appendices that provide conversions from USCS to SI units, tables of properties of natural gas, commonly used pipe sizes, and allowable internal and hydrotest pressures, this is the most easy-to-use, hands-on reference for gas pipelines available.

Advanced Natural Gas Engineering

Xiuli Wang, Michael Economides, "Advanced Natural Gas Engineering"
Gulf Publishing Company | 2009 | ISBN: 1933762381 | 400 pages | PDF | 6,9 MB

The role of natural gas in meeting the world energy demand has been increasing because of its abundance, versatility, and clean burning nature. As a result, new gas exploration, field development, and production activities are under way. This is especially true in places where natural gas was (until recently) labelled as 'stranded'. Because a significant portion of natural gas reserves world-wide are located across bodies of water, gas transportation becomes an issue. We are dealing with many unique issues and facing many challenges in the entire 'food chain' (upstream to midstream and downstream) of natural gas engineering. This necessitates a bridge of the technology gaps in a number of important areas: the unique new technologies such as different interpretation of 3-D seismic in natural gas exploration; the specific requirements in gas well drilling; the need for the hydraulically fracturing of high permeability gas well to bypass the damage but most importantly to reduce turbulence due to high well deliverability; natural gas sea-going transportation such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG); gas conversion and storage; and, alternative and competing energy sources. All of these new issues and challenges have not been addressed in depth in any existing books. Another reason why we put this book together is based on our observations of young professionals and graduate students. With the power of current computing technology, many companies are offering different software to solve engineering problems. Many young engineers and students are good at running programs and plotting beautiful graphs without knowing what the numbers and figures mean. Somehow people have lost their fundamental abilities to tackle problems without using a computer. Here, besides addressing the advanced engineering issues related to natural gas, we also provide equations along with examples and detailed calculation procedures of fundamental chemical and petroleum engineering problems. This book can serve as a reference book for all engineers in the energy business as well as a textbook for students in petroleum and chemical engineering curricula and in the training departments of a large group of companies.

Natural Gas Engineering Handbook

Natural Gas Engineering Handbook
Publisher: Gulf Publishing Company | ISBN: 0976511339 | edition 2005 | PDF | 464 pages | 18,5 mb

Many studies have concluded that the major source of energy for the global economy in the first half of the 21st century will be natural gas. With natural gas becoming more and more important there is increasing demand for information, yet less and less available material on this subject. The Natural Gas Engineering Handbook is the only book available that covers this subject in a comprehensive and practical way. This book covers the full scope of natural gas engineering, from gas reservoir engineering to gas production systems to gas processing. It adapts a computer-assisted approach, which is current practice in the industry and is severely lacking in other books on natural gas engineering.

Petroleum Experts IPM 7.5.600

Petroleum Experts IPM 7.5.600 | 542.0 mb
Name: Petroleum Experts IPM
Version: 7.5.600
Creator: www.petex.com
Interface: english
OS: Windows XP / Vista / Seven
Size: 542.0 mb

Petroleum Experts develop the Integrated Production Modelling software (IPM). IPM models the complete oil or gas production system including reservoir, wells and the surface network.

About Petroleum Experts Ltd.

Petroleum Experts started in business in 1990. All members of the team are from a petroleum engineering or engineering software development background with extensive experience in petroleum engineering. The corporate strategy developed from this expertise and a long-term business outlook have been fundamental to the success of the company.

The company's petroleum engineering software tools enable the oil and gas industry to model dynamically their oil reservoirs, production and injection wells and surface pipeline networks as an integrated production system.

Overview

The IPM suite of tools: GAP, PROSPER, MBAL, PVTP, REVEAL and RESOLVE can be run together seamlessly, allowing the engineer to design complete field models. The models can include the reservoir tanks, all the wells and the surface gathering system. IPM can model and optimise the production and the water or gas injection system simultaneously.

With the Reservoir, Wells and Complete Surface Systems model completed and the production history matched, the production system can be optimised and production forecasts run.

The unique global optimisation approach permits the engineer to determine the optimum setting to maximum production or revenue, taking account of all constraints that are set in the system. These results can then be used to implement adjustments at the field level to achieve the optimisation goals.

There are literally several thousand fields worldwide having their production managed and optimised using IPM. Here is a recent article published in the E&P magazine using the IPM technology on the Draugen field in Norway. E&P Article

All common naturally flowing well configurations, including multi-lateral, whether naturally flowing or with artificial lift can be modelled and optimised together.

With the use of RESOLVE and OpenServer the IPM approach has been extended to connecting the PETEX software to third party software such as Reservoir Simulators and Process Simulators.

These products form a suite of complementary tools assisting engineers to improve their reservoir simulations by describing and modelling a production system more accurately.
