Process Plant Machinery, 2 Ed

Heinz P. Bloch, Claire Soares, "Process Plant Machinery, 2 Ed"
Butterworth-Heinemann | 1998 | ISBN: 0471396435 | 734 pages | PDF | 55 MB

Process Plant Machinery provides the mechanical, chemical or plant engineer with the information needed to choose equipment best suited for a particular process, to determine optimum efficiency, and to conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.

Process Plant Machinery is a unique single-source reference for engineers, managers and technical personnel who need to acquire an understanding of the machinery used in modern process plants: prime movers and power transmission machines; pumping equipment; gas compression machinery; and mixing, conveying, and separation equipment. Starting with an overview of each class, the book quickly leads the reader through practical applications and size considerations into profusely illustrated component descriptions. Where necessary, standard theory is expertly explained in shortcut formulas and graphs. Maintainability and vulnerability concerns are dealt with as well.

Maximizing Machinery Uptime, Volume 5

Maximizing Machinery Uptime, Volume 5 (Practical Machinery Management for Process Plants)
Packt Publishing | ISBN: 0750677252 | 672 pages | April 16, 2007 | PDF | 9 Mb

The authors use their decades of experience and draw upon real-world examples to demonstrate that the application of their techniques provides a basis for equipment management, uptime maximization, and reduced maintenance costs. The text explores reliability assessment techniques such as Failure Mode, Effect Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis of commonly encountered rotating machinery. These are all highly effective techniques that the engineer can apply to maximize uptime and thereby maximize production and profitability.
*Provides the tools to drastically improve machinery productivity and performance
*Bridges the gap between the theory of "reliability engineering" and the practical day-to-day measures that lead to machinery uptime
*Authoritative reference for maximizing the uptime of process equipment

Turbomachinery Performance Analysis

Turbomachinery Performance Analysis
Butterworth-Heinemann; 1 edition | June 14, 1996 | ISBN-10: 0340631910 | 328 pages | PDF | 15.5 Mb

This modern overview to performance analysis places aero- and fluid-dynamic treatments, such as cascade and meridional flow analyses, within the broader context of turbomachine performance analysis. For the first time ducted propellers are treated formally within the general family of turbomachines. It also presents a new approach to the use of dimensional analysis which links the overall requirements, such as flow and head, through velocity triangles to blade element loading and related fluid dynamics within a unifying framework linking all aspects of performance analysis for a wide range of turbomachine types. Computer methods are introduced in the main text and a key chapter on axial turbine performance analysis is complemented by the inclusion of 3 major computer programs on an accompanying disc. These enable the user to generate and modify design data through a graphic interface to assess visually the impact on predicted performance and are designed as a Computer Aided Learning Suite for student project work at the professional designer level.

Based on the author's many years of teaching at degree level and extensive research experience, this book is a must for all students and professional engineers involved with turbomachinery.
